The annual half-way picnic of The Leichhardt Lodge No.133 and Lodge Enterprise No.400 was held on Sunday, 17th March at Budgewoi. In fine but slightly windy weather, members, their ladies and families enjoyed a very relaxing of day of eating and drinking, and conversation on a very wide range of topics.
Some members from Sydney called in to a Umina nursing home on their way to Budgewoi to present a 60 Year certificate to Bro. Harvey of The Leichhardt Lodge and he was very moved to receive such an honour.
Lodge Enterprise Secretary W. Bro. Phil Holden and Sue made it a weekend by driving their camper van to Budgewoi on the Friday and returning to Newcastle on the Monday. Their two dogs Georgie and Pebbles also enjoyed their short holiday.
Rt.W. Bro. Vic Totman and Linda attended, and Bro.Vic was again congratulated on his 60 Year certificate recently presented to him by the Grand Master at The Leichhardt Lodge. It was explained that it was a very special night with a large number of brethren in attendance.
Another well known member of The Leichhardt Lodge in attendance was Rt.W. Bro. Ted Simmons. With his sporting and journalist background, Bro. Ted is the current editor of The Freemason magazine.
Greetings were exchanged between the Worshipful Masters of the two Lodges, W. Bro. Darren Allatt (The Leichhardt) and V.W. Bro. Barry Stephenson (Enterprise) before Bro. Darren had to depart early to referee a Sydney soccer match.
Sadly the day soon drew to a close so that all could travel home in good time. All present enjoyed the day and the renewal of friendships between members, ladies and their families.
