Lodge City of Newcastle No.1035 June Meeting Report

Brother Darren Rolph will long remember the night of 25th June, 2013 and so will his father Wor. Bro. Arthur Rolph. On that night Darren was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason in Lodge City of Newcastle, by the Past Masters.

 V. Wor. Bro. Ted Oldfield was invited to occupy the Chair of King Solomon and perform the ceremony of raising Bro. Rolph to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason, assisted by the Past Masters of the Lodge.

Wor. Bro. Arthur Rolph performed the Raising, and he thanked V. Wor. Bro. Oldfield for allowing him to perform this part of the ceremony, saying: “It was honour to be able to raise my son”.

A total of 23 members, 22 visiting brethren, including an 11 member (4 apologies received) Fraternal from               Lodge Enterprise No 400 plus the DGIW V. Wor. Bro. Gary Herrett, was in attendance to witness the evening’s ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony, V. Wor. Bro. Oldfield congratulated Bro. Rolph on his Raising and presented him with a Bible.  This bible is specially made for presentation to newly raised brethren in this lodge and it includes pages listing the officers of the Lodge, and the dates of the candidate’s Initiation, Passing and Raising ceremonies. V. W. Bro. Oldfield then invited W. Bro. Arthur Rolph to the floor of the lodge to congratulate his son.

Father, Son and Brothers

Bro Rolph was an excellent, confident and attentive candidate, speaking loudly and clearly for all to hear. After the closing of the Lodge he was praised for his conduct during the ceremony by all of the brethren as they filed out of the Lodge Room where Bro. Rolph and V. Wor. Bro. Oldfield stood to thank them personally for their attendance.

After the meeting all adjourned to the South to partake of curried prawns and rice, with dessert to follow. At the end of the evening the Junior Warden presented the J.W.’s Toast and all then departed to their respective homes.
