November Meeting of Lodge Enterprise No.400

12 Members of The Leichhardt Lodge No.133 journeyed up the M1 Motorway on Saturday 2nd November. At 6.30 pm they entered the Masonic Centre at New Lambton and were greeted by the brethren from Lodge Enterprise No.400.

The Lodge tyled at 7pm and Lodge Enterprise’s meeting commenced and at the conclusion of business all visitors were admitted, including the fraternal from the Leichhardt Lodge led by their Worshipful Master, Wor. Bro. Darren Allatt.

After words of welcome from the Worshipful Master of Lodge Enterprise, V.Wor. Bro. Barry Stephenson, he requested Wor Bro Allatt to occupy the Chair of King Solomon and conduct the ceremony of passing Bro Sebastian Montalto to the Second Degree. At the end of the ceremony Wor.Bro. Allatt congratulated Bro. Montalto on behalf of the members of Lodge Leichhardt. He also invited V.Wor. Bro. Barry Stephenson to congratulate him on behalf of the members of Lodge Enterprise No.400.

Wor.Bro. Allatt then thanked V. Wor. Bro Stephenson for allowing him and his officers to carry out the passing of Bro. Montalto to the Second Degree. He then returned the gavel of the Lodge to V. Wor. Bro. Stephenson so that he could resume control in his Lodge.

The Second Degree was then closed and the Lodge resumed in the First Degree. In the absence of Rt. Wor. Bro. Raymond Pattinson, the Worshipful Master announced the birthdays for the month of November. Rt Wor. Bro Pattinson and Wor.Bro. Paul Clarke of Lodge Enterprise and Rt. Wor. Bro. Vic Totman of The Leichardt Lodge. All of these brethren unfortunately had apologised for their non-attendance. Those present were Wor.Bro. Michael Youssif who was celebrating a birthday in November and Rt. Wor. Bro. Garry Sayed who was celebrating a Masonic birthday. Both of these brethren were from The Leichhardt Lodge and were offered birthday wishes by the Wor. Master and brethren who joined in the birthday song.

The Caring Officer’s report was the final item for the night and Wor.Bro. Peter Hook reported on Mrs Barbara Garland, widow of Wor.Bro. Oscar Garland. Bro Paul Harden also gave a report on Wor. Bro. Reg. Nelson.

After the closing of the Lodge all retired to the South to partake of the festive board prepared by Mrs Gail Marshall, mother of our Immediate Past Master, Wor. Bro David Marshall. At the festive board all brethren present were invited to the annual Sunday get together which would be a day on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie.

Sunday saw our Leichhardt brethren entertained at the home of Wor. Bro. Bruce Chadwick at Bolton Point. Unfortunately only 6 of The Leichhardt Lodge fraternal could be present and they were well looked after by the 10 members of Lodge Enterprise able to attend. It was a very warm day but the lakeside venue with its water views meant a very enjoyable day.

For the first time in 15 years the steel quoits challenge between the two Lodges was held, on the grass lawn at the water’s edge. Those present showed they had lost none of their skills with some very close matches played. Some of the best throws were by the newest Leichhardt member EAF Harry Kakavarn who teamed with Rt. Wor Bro Garry Sayed to win the “Quoits” Trophy.

A fine barbecue lunch followed where Wor. Bro. David Padgett showed his cooking talent. Wor.Bro. Chadwick co-opted several Enterprise brethren in the preparation of a variety of side dishes as he was slightly restricted by his broken ankle (the cause of which he is keeping as a closely guarded secret).

The raffle was drawn and without any surprise whatsoever, the first ticket drawn was held by Rt. Wor. Bro. Dick Bell whose brother Rt.Wor.Bro. Bruce Bell won first prize at the meeting on Saturday night.

The Leichhardt brethren then departed for Sydney after thanks were expressed to Lodge Enterprise and Wor.Bro. Bruce Chadwick for a most enjoyable day.

Lodge Enterprise No 400 will meet again on Monday the 25th of November, which will be the consolidation meeting of Lodge Friendship No158 with Lodge Enterprise No.400. From this night on Lodge Enterprise will hold it’s meetings on the four Monday of each Month except December which will be the third Monday.
