Visit to Lodge Port Stephens No.522
It was well worth the 77 kilometre drive to Tea Gardens, north of Newcastle, for a visit to Lodge Port Stephens No.522 on Wednesday evening the 11th February. Wor. Bro. Arthur Rolph, the Wor. Master of Lodge Enterprise No.400, and V. Wor. Bro. Barry Stephenson accompanied the D.G.I.W. of District 14, V. Wor. Bro. David Marshall on his first official visit to Lodge Port Stephens as the representative of the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of N.S.W. & the A.C.T.
The Lodge’s work for the evening was to raise Bro. Les Smith to the 3rd or Sublime Degree of a Master Mason. This Meeting was also the Lodge’s annual Past Masters night. Worshipful Brother Kevin Williams was invited to take the Chair of King Solomon and lead the Past Masters in performing the ritual of the degree, which they did to the utmost of their ability. At the conclusion of the ceremony all visiting masons were given a hearty welcome, and further words of welcome were given to the D.G.I.W.
After the closing of the Lodge all brethren retired the Festive Board to enjoy the meal ably prepared by the Stewards. Toasts, and their responses, were presented and then the raffle was drawn. The township of Tea Gardens being situated on the shores of the Myall River, prizes of fish, wines and other goodies had brethren eagerly waiting for their ticket to be drawn out.
The evening was another wonderful night in Freemasonry for all present.
