The August Meeting of Lodge Enterprise

Wor. Bro. Gordon Taylor and Wor. Bro. Brian Spurr are both long time members of the Newcastle & Hunter Valley Cine Society that was founded in 1964 and affiliated with the Federation of Australian Movie Makers. The NHVCS is an amateur movie making group who are interested in learning the skills of movie making as a hobby and as an art form and caters to both the beginner and the experienced movie maker.

At the last meeting of Lodge Enterprise No. 400 on Monday the 24th  August, V. Wor. Bro. Taylor arranged an amateur video presentation for our enjoyment. After opening the Lodge and conducting the business, the visiting brethren and the DGIW for District 14, V. Wor. Bro. David Marshall, were received and welcomed. The Lodge Enterprise musicians then entertained us with a musical item which was enjoyed by all. The Worshipful Master, Wor. Bro. Rolph, in thanking the musicians for their item, commented on how music adds greatly to the lustre of the evening. After the Lodge was closed, all retired to remove their aprons before returning for the video presentation.

The program consisted of videos on the building of the New Lambton Masonic Centre back in the late fifties, the Friendly Societies operating in Newcastle early last century and one showcasing the many talents of our Organist, W Bro Brian Spurr, including those of movie maker, car enthusiast, church organist and miming to the songs of old time favourites, Al Jolson and Eddy Cantor. The program concluded with an episode from “The Simpsons” titled The Stonecutter. At the conclusion the audience responded with enthusiastic applause.

In the South, a fine two meat salad with dessert prepared by our caterer, Mrs. Gail Marshall and helper Mrs .Cheryl Richardson was appreciated by all those present.
