Lodge Enterprise held its annual Anzac Meeting on Monday, 24th April, 2017. 53 members, visitors and ladies were in attendance, including the DGIW, V. Wor. Bro. Tom Muir. The Lodge was tyled at 7pm for usual business prior to admission of visiting Masons. An Obituary was then conducted for the passing on the 13th April of V.Wor. Bro. Warren Mitchell, Senior Warden of the Lodge at the age of 85 years. Warren was very much a ‘caretaker’ of the New Lambton Masonic Centre having been involved since its construction and will be greatly missed as an active member of this lodge.
The Lodge was then closed and all present adjourned to the Festive Board for an excellent meal and the usual Toasts and raffle, including a toast to “The Spirit of ANZAC’ presented by V. Wor. Bro. Kevin Goodwin.
Following the meal, all were invited into the lodge room for the Anzac Service which included an Army Catafalque Party at the central cenotaph and Captain Lockwood representing the local cadet unit. Music was provided by the Enterprise orchestra and Wor. Bro. John Ross of Lodge City of Newcastle playing the bagpipes. The Worshipful Master presented poems of the time and a special recitation was given by Wor. Bro. Clive Lipscombe.
After further words of thanks to all present from the Wor. Master, the Junior Warden, V. Wor. Bro. Terry Holstein gave his JW’s toast at the conclusion of another moving but enjoyable night at Lodge Enterprise.
