No official meeting was held in December since our By-Laws were changed earlier this year, so it was full swing into the festive season at Lodge Enterprise’s Christmas celebrations night held on Monday, 18th December 2017.
Members and their ladies, friends, children and prospective members and their families were welcomed into the Lodge Room by the Worshipful Master, Wor. Bro. Geoff Williams. After his words of welcome he introduced the Master of Ceremonies, V. Wor. Bro. Kevin Goodwin and asked him to conduct the Christmas carol singing, ably assisted by the Lodge Enterprise musicians.
At the conclusion of the carols, all retired to the Festive Board which was magnifically set up with special Christmas decorations made by Mrs Desma Stephens and greatly appreciated by those present.
An excellent Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, including Christmas pudding with custard, was prepared by our caterer, Ms.Teresa Campos and helpers, and was well received by all.
Before the dessert was served an alarm was heard at the door and our Inner Guard, on this occasion V. Wor. Bro. Brian Stephens, informed the Wor. Master that at the door stood Wor. Bro. Claus from the North Pole Lodge who requested entry.
He was duly admitted and, after a lot of “Ho Ho Ho’s” and “Merry Christmases”, he travelled around the diners lead by our piper, Wor. Bro. John Ross with Santa’s helper Bro. Elf following at the rear. Bro Elf, who after stopping at the Wor. Master, Senior Warden and Junior Wardens, somehow became known as Bro. Relf. Maybe it was the refreshments each received at each stop. Wor. Bro. Claus then proceeded to distribute Christmas gifts to the children present who were thrilled to receive a gift from Santa.
Raffle tickets went on sale during the evening and a total of thirteen prizes were on offer. First prize was a beautifully decorated Christmas cake donated by Mrs Kleinman who unfortunately wasn’t able to attend. All proceeds from this raffle will go towards our charity drive for Jenny’s Place, a refuge for victims of domestic violence.
