Lodge Enterprise No.400 June 2017 Meeting Report

Lodge Enterprise No.400 –  June 2017 Meeting Masonry:  “A peculiar system of morality veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols.” This was the theme for the June meeting of Lodge Enterprise No. 400 on Monday night 26th June, 2017. After opening the Lodge, and welcoming members, Lodge business items were considered and discussed. Visiting masons were then admitted and also welcomed by the Worshipful Master, Wor. Bro. Geoff Williams. In his introduction of the night’s work, the Wor. Master mentioned Masonry and its reference to Morality through the use Allegory and Symbols. This meeting would examine the Working Tools of the three Degrees and give some explanation of their use as allegory in connection to the morality of man. He requested Bro. Max Walker to present the 1st Degree Working Tools. After the presentation, V. Wor. Bro. Barry Stephenson read a paper explaining the Morality and Allegory of the related to these implements. This format continued into the 2nd and 3rd Degrees when Wor. Bro. Jim Richardson presented the 2nd Working Tools and Wor. Bro. Philip Holden read the Morality and Allegory explanation. The 3rd Working Tools were presented by Wor. Bro. David Padgett and the Wor. Master presented the explanation. After closing the 3rd and then the 2nd Degrees, the Wor. Lodge Enterprise No.400 May Meeting Report

Enterprise May Meeting 22nd May, 2017 by V.Wor. Bro. Barry Stephenson   The May meeting of Lodge Enterprise was held on Monday, 22nd May, 2017. 23 members and only 4 visitors were in attendance. On this occasion the DGIW, V.Wor. Bro. Tom Muir submitted his apologies.  The Lodge was tyled at 7pm for usual business prior to admission of visiting Masons.  Obituaries were then conducted for the passing on the 30th April of Bro. Robert Carter, on the 20th May of Wor. Bro. Peter Hook and V.Wor. Bro. Fred Conway on 22nd May.  Both Peter and Fred were esteemed former members of this lodge. The Lodge was then closed and all present adjourned to the Festive Board for an excellent meal and the usual toasts and raffle. Following the meal, all were invited into the lodge room for an entertaining DVD presentation arranged by the Wor. Master, Wor. Bro. Geoff Williams. Fraternal Visit to The Leichhardt Lodge No.133 May 2017

 The predicted rain event for the East Coast of New South Wales fizzled out just in time for the Lodge Enterprise No.400 annual Fraternal Visitation to The Leichhardt Lodge No. 133 in Sydney on the weekend of the 20/21 May, 2017. Not one drop of the forecast event fell to dampen the feelings of the brethren whose thoughts were concentrated on enjoying the journey and catching up with old friends and making new ones. The usual guessing competitions were held on the trip down. The bottle of port was won by Barry Stephenson and Arthur Rolph won the arrival time guessing competition. There was ample food and drink on the bus; the food being supplied by Mrs Williams and Mrs Padgett, which was well received by all. After booking into the motel at Ryde, a short drive was made to the Ryde – Eastwood Leagues Club for lunch and liquid refreshments. We returned to the motel to relax before preparing for the drive to the Concord Masonic Centre for the meeting of The Leichhardt Lodge. The ceremony would be the Raising of Bro. Danny Matti, a member of The Leichhardt Lodge, to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason. Bro. Lodge Enterprise Anzac March – 25th April, 2017

    by V. Wor. Bro. Barry Stephenson At the suggestion of Bro. Alex Ward, Lodge Enterprise took part for the first time in the ANZAC Day Commemoration Ceremonies at New Lambton, a suburb of Newcastle, NSW. In warm sunny weather, 6 members of Lodge Enterprise assembled at the New Lambton Swimming Centre at 9.30am. They were the WM, Wor. Bro. Geoff Williams, DC, Wor. Bro. Arthur Rolph, V.Wor. Bros. Barry Stephenson and Brian Stephens, Wor. Bro. Philip Holden and Bro. Mark Wolff. Mrs. Desma Stephens also attended. A large crowd of local residents, schoolchildren, and special groups was present and the organisation by the local RSL was exceptional. After a brief ceremony and wreath laying at the pool’s Memorial Entrance, marchers were assembled in Durham Road for the short march to the Lambton Park Bowling Club. Dispensation had been received for masonic regalia to be worn and the Enterprise contingent following the ex-servicemen looked resplendent as they marched. The Bowling Club quickly filled to overflowing for the main ANZAC Service which commenced at 10.45am. An excellent service was appreciated by all and included an Anzac Address by Lt. Col. Jodie Lording. A wreath laying by a large number of groups including Lodge Enterprise was conducted as well as singing of the Royal Anthem, the Australian Nation Anthem and the New Zealand National Anthem. Lodge Enterprise Anzac Meeting 24th April, 2017

Lodge Enterprise held its annual Anzac Meeting on Monday, 24th April, 2017.  53 members, visitors and ladies were in attendance, including the DGIW, V. Wor. Bro. Tom Muir.  The Lodge was tyled at 7pm for usual business prior to admission of visiting Masons. An Obituary was then conducted for the passing on the 13th April of V.Wor. Bro. Warren Mitchell, Senior Warden of the Lodge at the age of 85 years. Warren was very much a ‘caretaker’ of the New Lambton Masonic Centre having been involved since its construction and will be greatly missed as an active member of this lodge. The Lodge was then closed and all present adjourned to the Festive Board for an excellent meal and the usual Toasts and raffle, including a toast to “The Spirit of ANZAC’ presented by V. Wor. Bro. Kevin Goodwin. Following the meal, all were invited into the lodge room for the Anzac Service which included an Army Catafalque Party at the central cenotaph and Captain Lockwood representing the local cadet unit. Music was provided by the Enterprise orchestra and Wor. Bro. John Ross of Lodge City of Newcastle playing the bagpipes.
